Wireless Hot Spots in the Courthouse

There are at least four wireless access points, or "hot spots," in the Dane County Courthouse. Some of these locations have limited availability due to hours of operation or room availability.

2nd Floor: Court Commissioner Center area

Lower Level: Legal Resource Center (Open 8:30-4:30)
Assembly Room (Limited availability)
Themis Cafe

When you log on and try to access the internet, after by-passing your security settings if necessary, you will arrive at a "challenge screen" produced by Dane County Info Mgmt, asking you to log-in as a registered user. Scroll down on this screen and click on the button called "Log on as guest." This should allow you to start using the internet.

They have all the information anyway, so why not? Joe Bankman, Law Professor at Stanford, created Ready Return to help California taxpayers. Could a similiar program work in Wisconsin? For more on Ready Return, visit Bankman's faculty profile page where there are links to FAQ.

Are you aware of your first amendment freedoms?

From the ResourceShelf's DocuTicker:

Americans’ Awareness of First Amendment Freedoms (PDF; 232 KB)
From press release: "A new McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum survey finds that only about one in four Americans (28 percent) are able to name more than one of the five fundamental freedoms granted to them by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Yet when it comes to knowledge of popular culture, Americans are considerably more tuned in. For example, almost twice as many Americans (52 percent) can name at least two members of 'The Simpsons' cartoon family."
